Conservatoire de Bordeaux

The center André Malraux who shelters the academy was built in 1977 by the architects of Bordeaux Francisc Perrier and Raymond Mothe.
The Conservatoire de Bordeaux Jacques Thibaud provides demanding courses for 1900 students, children (aged 6/7) and adults in music, dance and theatre.
Ranging from introductory courses to pre- professional level, the conservatory's teaching programme is designed as an encounter between artists-in-residence who are the teachers, and trainee artists who are the students.
Courses are mainly given out of school hours, or organized in partnership with national education to fit in with modified class times.
The training combines individual and group exercises and public performances &– les scenes publiques &– and covers all instrumental, vocal, choreographic and theatrical disciplines.
Les scènes publiques offer students an opportunity to demonstrate their skills in conditions that are as close as possible the working conditions of professional artists. Nearly 15000 spectators attend each year and contribute to developing public appreciation of live performances.
The conservatory's artistic project and training program consists mainly in passing on its repertoire and exploring contemporary texts. Since 2007, the programme has included a jazz/contemporary music section.
The Conservatoire de Bordeaux Jacques Thibaud is a Bordeaux teaching establishment that provides artistic training. It is approved and regulated by the Ministry for Culture. It is also supported by the Conseil Régional d'Aquitaine.
